NOTE: Because of an administrative error, the Best of Show blue ribbon was earlier placed on the Chicago Tribune’s first-place series in Education Writing and the newspaper was notified it had won the grand award. A review of the results showed that the blue ribbon had been won by The Associated Press for its first-place series on West Africa in News Beat Coverage. The Press Club of Atlantic City and the National Headliner Awards regret the error. “We congratulate the AP on their excellent work,” said Peter Kendall, deputy managing editor of the Tribune. |
