Q: My company has a paywall. Do the judges need access to see my entry?
A: Yes, please submit a username and password that the judges may use during the contest judging period. You may enter that in the Additional Notes to Judges field on the Uploads page of your entry. If the username/password provided does not allow access to the URLs during the judging period, your entry will be disqualified.
Q: What file types should I submit?
A: The file type permitted varies by category. Generally, .doc, .rtf, .pdf, .jpg, and URLs are accepted. Please format PDFs to fit to 8.5×11″ when possible. For video categories, please submit a URL to your work posted online.
Q: I have marked my entries as “submitted.” How do I submit my payment?
A: Please proceed to the “Pay Now” button. You may submit payment by PayPal or by check. Clicking PayPal will take you to that site for payment processing by credit card. If you prefer to send a paper check, please mail a copy of your Pay Now page and check to: National Headliner Awards, PO Box 128, Somers Point, NJ 08244
Entries that have not been paid by the start of judging will not be considered.
Q: Can I submit entries by mail?
A: No. All of the entries for this year’s contest must be submitted online through this system.
Q: Do sidebars count as one sample?
Q: Does a series count as a sample?
A: A series should not be used as a sample. There are categories designated specifically for a series.
Q: Can a sample from one category be entered into another category?
A: No, except a reporter may enter a single article as part of an individual body of work when a newspaper enters the same article as part of a public service, news series or investigative reporting entry.
Q: Can photos that have only been published online be entered in the photography categories?
A: They can’t be included in the print categories, but they can be submitted in the online journalism categories.
Q: If I submit in the portfolio or photo essay/story categories and one or more of the photos was only published online, may I enter them?
A: They may only be entered in the online journalism categories. Only material published in print can be included in the print categories.
Q: Are Letters to the Judges accepted?
Q: Does daily circulation for print winners include weekend subscriptions?
Q: If a story is from this calendar year but is published or broadcast after the calendar year, may it be entered?
Q: How many people may I list to get credit for the award should it win?
A: We try to limit the credits to 3 names if possible. We are flexible with adding names to the website, however the plaque and program book are limited as to the number of names you may list. In the event of a group entry, “Team” or “Staff” is suggested as the language for the credits. Keep in mind that separate plaques or certificates are available to be ordered individually.

Q: What address do we mail our entry to if we want to send it overnight and P.O. Box mailing addresses are not allowed?
A: All entries must be submitted online for this year’s contest.
Q: What payment methods are accepted?

Q: Can the check be mailed after the deadline date?
